Michigan Democrats are sounding the alarm about President Biden's chances in the state as polls continue to show him trailing President Donald Trump.
“The level of concern is rising, and it should be,” said Adrian Hemond, a Michigan-based Democratic strategist. Wall Street Journal. “The problem is not policy. The problem is people.”
Michigan Democratic Rep. Dan Kildee said he recently spoke with Biden and encouraged the president to visit the state because “this is not the place to be.”
Biden's support for Israel has caused tensions in the state, particularly in Dearborn, Michigan, which is home to a large Arab-American community.

“It's a burden on him here in Michigan,” Democratic Rep. David Hoehner from New Boston, Michigan, told the media. “I hope he understands that he’s leaving behind a huge demographic.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, young voters appear to be dissatisfied with the federal government in general, citing a lack of progress on voting rights laws and student loans.
“The frustration is against the entire system,” said the Rev. Charles Williams II, pastor of King Solomon Baptist Church. “It feels like we're reaching a breaking point in our democracy. People no longer believe it's working. I don't even think about it.'' he told WSJ in Detroit. “They're not without hope in Donald Trump, they're not without hope in Joe Biden.”
Polls in December showed voters were deeply unenthusiastic about the president.

Only 27% support Democrats great lakes state According to a Washington Post Monmouth poll, many people said they were “enthusiastic” for Biden to be their party's presidential nominee.
About 51% of Democratic voters in the state said they were “satisfied” with Biden as the Democratic nominee, while 19% said they were “dissatisfied” or “upset.”

The Biden campaign is focusing on abortion in Michigan after voters passed a bill protecting abortion rights in 2022.
But Nicole Wells Stallworth, former leader of the state's Planned Parenthood program, told The Wall Street Journal she worries about losing momentum.
“Attention spans are real,” she told the outlet.
