A New Hampshire man has been given probation after admitting to threatening to kill Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, accusing him in a voicemail of “coming after homosexuals.”
Alan Poehler, 24, had previously pleaded guilty in October to communicating a threat to harm another person in interstate commerce.
New Hampshire union leaders said he was sentenced in federal court Thursday to three years of probation and ordered to pay a $500 fine.
Poehler, then a student at Keene State University, called the U.S. House of Representatives office in Washington, D.C., on March 29, 2023, and left a voicemail message that read: , representative [Name], if you come after gays, we're going to fight back, and I guarantee you you don't want to do it with us. ”
