Oakland, California’s only In-N-Out restaurant closing due to crime

A Bay Area In-N-Out Burger location is set to close due to a crime, according to reports.

This restaurant is the only restaurant in Oakland, California. In a statement from the franchise, KTVU Fox 2 The company said regular car break-ins, property damage, theft and armed robbery of customers and employees led to the decision to close.

“We are grateful to our local community for supporting us for over 18 years and understand that this closure will have a negative impact on our employees and their families,” chief operating officer Danny Warwick said in a statement to the network. We recognize that we are giving “Additionally, while this location remains a busy and profitable location for the company, our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. You may not be asked to visit or work.

The fast food company said “repeated measures” to deter crime and maximize safety had not been successful.

Oakland police did not immediately respond to an inquiry into reports of crimes at the store, but data collected by the San Francisco Chronicle shows nine robberies, two commercial robberies, four domestic violence incidents and 1,174 car break-ins. cases have been recorded.

A current employee told the newspaper that his car window was robbed last year.

The last day customers can purchase burgers, fries and shakes at the Oakport Street store is March 24, KRON reports. The store has been open for 18 years.

Current employees will be able to work at other nearby locations or receive severance pay, officials told KTVU.
