MSNBC political commentator Chris Matthews said Monday on “Morning Joe” that people who believe in former President Donald Trump are “crazy.”
“There are 200 people who have already pleaded guilty to felonies at the Capitol on January 6th. That's the real business. These people face up to 18 to 20 years in prison,” Matthews said. Possibly. I think there will be a law enacted after Donald Trump that will put him in a corner. This will work for all 700 people with felonies or misdemeanors who have pleaded guilty since January 6th. I think it's the same system that we've been using.”
He continued, “The mastermind behind it all is the man who lied to get Donald Trump elected president in 2020.” He lied after the election. He lied all day on January 6th. Well today he lied about the E. Jean Carroll incident. I know E. Jean Carroll was always on my show. I have complete faith in her, as do her jurors. I think they'll give her a lot of her money, maybe $10 million on top of everything, because they really believe she's hurt by this. ”
Matthews continued, “I think Mr. Trump lies all the time. People who believe liars all the time are crazy. I don't understand why 70 million people would accept someone who keeps lying.'' He didn't win. If you ask them point-blank, tell us what states he won that we didn't know about. Did he really win in Georgia, which required 12,000 votes for secretary of state? Where did he win? They don't know. They just follow his instructions and follow his lies.”
