The Yankees seem to be making some small but noticeable changes to their road uniforms this year.
The club has done away with the white piping around Road Gray's navy blue letters and numbers. Uni Watch reported on Tuesday.along with navy blue and white sleeve trim.
This change will return the Yankees' road jerseys to their pre-1973 jerseys, which included a white outline around “NEW YORK” and the jersey number.
Known for their classic style and minimal changes, the Yankees' uniforms have seen other small improvements in recent years. In 2020, a Nike Swoosh was added to the chest of the jersey, and in 2023, a Star Insurance patch was added to the sleeve.

According to Uni Watch, they also shortened the space between “NEW” and “YORK” on road jerseys in 2016.
The Yankees won't have to wait long to debut the new design, as they open the season on the road against the Astros at Minute Maid Park on March 28th.
While other organizations have changed their uniforms over the years, the Yankees have made few changes.
Most teams have at least one alternate uniform, but the Yankees stick to just their home and road uniforms.
The only times they've worn anything else during the regular season in recent years were during MLB Players Weekend from 2017 to 2019 and when they wore the throwback at the 2021 Field of Dreams game.
