The Match 2024: Rory McIlroy, Rose Zhang featured with a fun twist

News that Capital One's “The Match” would feature its first female player originally surfaced in November, but it's now official.PGA Tour on Tuesday I confirmed the 9th edition. A look at this live golf event.

Rory McIlroy returns and is paired with Lexi Thompson. They won 15 major championships together. They will face six-time PGA Tour winner and Ryder Cup stallion Max Homa and fellow California native Rose Chan on Monday, February 26th at 6:30pm ET on TNT.

This year's production has a fun twist. They will play under lights at The Park Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Fla., where fans will see a 12-hole skins format, according to the PGA Tour.

Night Golf will allow TNT Sports to implement several innovations that fans will be able to see in action. All four players have microphones connected to them and interact with each other and the broadcast team during the television broadcast.

On the four par-3 holes, all golfers hit from the same tee box. His remaining eight holes will use different tee boxes, similar to the Grant Thornton Invitational, a mixed event in December.

Each hole is worth a designated amount for charity. The person who raises the most funds through the skin format will be the winner.

This is Charles Barkley's eighth year commentating at the event, and Ernie Johnson's fourth year. 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman will also be competing for the seventh time. Kathryn Tappen will serve as on-course reporter, and three-time LPGA winner Christina Kimwill will make her series debut.

DJ Khaled and NHL TNT personality Paul Bissonnette will also join the team as special contributors. They provide commentary while following the players throughout the event.
