An Alabama woman called 911 to report a fake robbery at her home because she was afraid of “bad weather,” police said.
Kelly Ginievra, 39, called the emergency dispatch center in her hometown of Dothan on January 9, claiming there was a robbery in progress at her home, the Dothan Police Department. This was announced in a press release on Thursday.
When officers arrived at the woman's home on Johnson Circle, they quickly determined there was no break-in.
“Mr. Ginivera reported that he was afraid of bad weather and wanted officers to quickly respond to his home,” police said.
Dothan, a city of 71,000 people located about 160 miles southwest of Montgomery, experienced “heavy rain” on the day of the incident. According to information from world-weather.info.

Ginievra was arrested in connection with the weather-related stunt and charged with one misdemeanor count of making a false report to law enforcement.
