Cease-fire chants drown out Biden at abortion rights rally

President Biden encountered Gaza war protesters at a rally promoting access to abortion, and his speech was interrupted more than a dozen times by chants from the crowd.

As soon as his speech began, he was jeered by demonstrators holding Palestinian flags and chanting, “How many children were killed?” Within seconds, the demonstrators were drowned out by the crowd's chants of “four more years” that lasted about a minute.

When the dueling voices died down, another participant shouted, “Israel kills two mothers an hour,” and chanted, “We love you Joe!” Began. Within minutes, more demonstrators shouted phrases such as “Massacre Joe must go” and “Stop funding genocide,” followed by another chant of “Four more years!”

“They feel it deeply,” Biden said before returning to his speech.

After the third hiatus, he said, “We're going to keep doing this for a while.” “There are a few more.”

Protesters were escorted from an election event in Manassas, Virginia. The president's speech, in which he emphasized his focus on reproductive rights and scolded former President Donald Trump, who is likely to be his Republican opponent in the 2024 presidential election, was interrupted about 10 times in total. .

“I'm sorry it took so long,” Biden said after hearing from the fourth protester. Immediately after the shout, the “Let's go, Joe” started again.

“This is going to be going on for a while. They're planning this,” Biden said, responding to the cries of another demonstrator.

As he spoke about Trump's lawsuit in the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, a sixth protester could be heard shouting:

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, including women, are crying out loud,” he said, slamming her.

The crowd quickly began chanting “Let's go, Joe” each time a demonstrator shouted, causing Biden to stop speaking for a few seconds.

“Don't jump,” Biden then said to someone in the crowd who was shouting about the Middle East war.

About 15 minutes into the speech, the crowd screamed for several seconds, as if trying to drown out the protesters. In all, Biden's speech lasted about 20 minutes with some interruptions.

Earlier this month, Biden encountered protesters calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, South Carolina. He has encountered protests on nearly every trip since the Middle East war over his pro-Israel stance in response to the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack that killed more than 1,000 Israelis.

The president faces increasing pressure from the left for a ceasefire in Gaza, but he has rejected the call, arguing that it would only allow Hamas to regroup and support him. The Biden administration has increasingly encouraged Israel to target Hamas's approaches to Gaza and minimize the impact of its operations on civilians.
