A six-year-old boy raised a terrorist alert at an airport in northern Turkey with several realistic-looking toy guns in his backpack.
Part of the incident was captured on cellphone video, which shows a relieved police officer laughing with the boy as he examines the facsimile for a firearm.
The boy, identified by local media as Selim Kose, was at DHM Enisehir Airport in Bursa's Enisehir district when his bag was put through an X-ray scanner, which detected a weapon and set off alarm bells.
Police immediately deactivated the device and seized a small red backpack for closer inspection.
But the scare didn't last long, when the police opened the bag and discovered that the gun was actually a plastic toy.
Footage recorded at the airport shows Selim smiling, showing off a fake black handgun and pulling the trigger, while a police officer sitting next to him laughs.
Selim had gone to the airport to see off his grandparents as they departed for Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Bursa Basin reported.
The six-year-old briefly caused fear and played with the officers for a while before saying goodbye to his relatives.
