CCM artists who soared to number one with hit songs who i am God delivered him from his addiction to drugs and alcohol, and says a simple invitation to church may have saved his life.
Ben Fuller's who i am His latest hit reached #1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart in 2022. if i get jesusis currently in the top 40.
But five years ago, Fuller was a Nashville country singer writing songs about — in his words — “back roads and beer drinking” in pursuit of fame and fortune.
“I was in a completely hopeless situation,” Fuller told Christian Headlines. “So I was drinking 19 beers a night.”
He was also doing drugs. His life changed when a Nashville-area family from Vermont invited him to dinner. Mr. Fuller is also from Vermont.
“I moved here [to Nashville] For country music. And I got lost on Broadway,” he said of the famous downtown. “And I was singing about the wrong things and drinking heavily and taking drugs. This family invited me over for a meal. And at the end of the meal, they told me that the next day… He asked me if I wanted to come to church with him, and I just said, “Yes.” I said, 'Of course, no matter what, I'll go.' ”

That church was City of the City Church in Franklin, Tennessee. Fuller, a music lover, was fascinated by the songs he heard.
“God used music and I heard His voice. And he said, “I gave it to you.'' And now you sing for me. ' So I gave up everything. ”
Fuller had been drinking and using drugs for about 14 years, police said. “In the space of two months,” he stopped.
“And he straight up took everything out of my mouth, no taste of alcohol, no swear words. And just made me clean,” Fuller told Christian Headline.
Fuller said that before he was saved, Jesus “was always just an insult in my mouth.”
“I didn't know who he was. And Vermont is 2 percent Christian. So I wasn't invited,” he said of life in the New England state. “I never went to church. I never heard the gospel.”
Mr. Fuller is trip In March, he performed with We Are Messengers and Jonathan Traylor. He doesn't sing about beer anymore.
“Right now it's light and love and Christ and salvation. I'm giving him all the credit. I'm giving him all the credit. And he's just making this happen. ” he said.
