Ryan Gosling was thrilled to receive an Oscar nomination for his role as Ken in last year's hit movie. barbieHowever, despite expressing his gratitude, he ended up criticizing the Academy for not giving the same consideration to the film's star Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig.
Gosling was nominated for Best Supporting Actor on Tuesday, but neither Robbie nor Gerwig were named on the nominations list.

“In a year full of great films, I am extremely honored to have been nominated by my colleagues alongside such great artists,” Gosling wrote.
“I never thought I'd be able to say this, but I'm extremely honored and proud to play a plastic doll named Ken,” he added. “But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making and world-famous film.”
Gosling claimed to be disappointed in the Academy.
“Without talent, guts and genius, it would be impossible for anyone in this film to be recognized,” he said. “To say we are disappointed that they were not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
“Despite some soulless, skimpy, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, broke our hearts, promoted culture, and made history. Their achievements should be recognized along with other highly deserving candidates,” Gosling exclaimed.
The actor concluded with a message congratulating his co-star America Ferrera on his nomination.
“That said, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other amazing artists who lent their talents to making such a groundbreaking film,” he wrote.
Ferrera was nominated for Best Supporting Actress barbie.
