Cuban Olympic judo wrestler dies at 34 after reported breast enhancement surgery

Cuban judo wrestler Marisette Espinosa Gonzalez died earlier this week at the age of 34.

The Cuban University of Physical Education announced her death in a Facebook post, saying it was “in mourning” and “feeling great pain.”

“On behalf of our faculty, staff, and students, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues,” the university said in a statement.

According to reports, she underwent surgery on January 21, the day the university announced her death.Via local media judo insideshe said she underwent breast implants and subsequently suffered complications and eventually suffered a heart attack.

Gonzalez's nickname was “La Mole” and he was from Arroyo Naranjo.

She competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and also won the 2013 and 2014 Pan American Games.

Gonzalez competed in the 63 kg (139 lb) weight class and was a member of the Cuban national team for 10 years before retiring in 2017.

Gonzalez's death came days after another Olympian passed away in 2016.
