Bardo remains in prison, serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for murder.

Mr. Schaefer's shocking death led to the passage of the first anti-stalking law in 1990, California Penal Code 646.9, which states, “Intentionally and maliciously harassing another person with the intent to place that person in an unreasonable position.'' The law makes it a crime for a person to “make a credible threat.” I'm worried about my safety. ”
