Biden challenger Dean Phillips nabs nearly 20 percent in New Hampshire primary

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota fell just short of his goal in the New Hampshire primary.

With 95% of the vote, Mr. Phillips, who had previously said “to be in the 20s is no mean feat,'' won 19.5% of the state.

President Biden secured victory with approximately 55% of the vote.

The state is hosting an unauthorized Democratic campaign, and the president's reelection campaign announced last fall that Biden would not apply to have his name placed on New Hampshire's ballot.

Phillips said he has invested $5 million of his own money into his bid for the White House.

“It was a lot more than I intended,” he said in an interview with Fox News Digital. But he said his own investments may be starting to pay off because “grassroots donors are really starting to show up.”

The president is a strong front-runner for the party's nomination in 2024, but polls show many Americans, including many Democrats, do not want Biden to seek a second term in the White House. .

These same polls show that voters are not excited about a likely rematch between Biden and former President Trump, the candidate whom Biden defeated in 2020.
