We Can Do More to Enforce Immigration Law, Like Removing Razor Wire at Border

On Wednesday's broadcast of Fox News Channel's “The Story,” White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said, “It's not just about creating a legal pathway, it's about what we can do to enforce the law. There's clearly more.” He said one of the reasons the Biden administration opposed installing power lines along the Texas border was “to give the Border Patrol access to the river itself to carry out its mission.”

“President Biden has been concerned about our nation's immigration policy and called for reform since his inauguration, and he agrees with that,” Kirby said. [need] Due to changes in processing methods, we have created additional legal pathways. But clearly there is much more that can be done to crack down on illegal immigration, beyond just creating legal pathways, including enforcing existing and accompanying new laws. I think he shares my concerns about the need for serious reform. He also believes part of this effort must be increased border security. That's why a key part of his supplemental request included specific funding for border security to add Border Patrol agents. ”

Host Martha McCallum then said President Joe Biden doesn't seem to have a lot of urgency about border security, noting that razor wire is being removed.

Mr. Kirby responded to McCallum's statement on the wire, saying, “This issue through the wire is actually — one of the reasons we opposed it is that the Border Patrol has to use the river itself to carry out its mission. It was to give them access to.''
