On Thursday's broadcast of NPR's “Here and Now,” former Obama aide David Axelrod said President Joe Biden needs to be “very aggressive” in dealing with the “crisis” at the border. “Swift and realistic action is needed,” he said. How can we stop the flow of immigrants? Because it's one of the symbols for people that things are out of control. ”
asked co-host Robin Young. [relevant exchange begins around 6:05] “[A] A lot of conservative writers who didn't support Donald Trump wrote about immigration, and they said, “Look, he was right.” He sees how this is affecting different people along the border and the perception (though it may not be reality) that people are losing their jobs or being invaded. I saw this happen. How will Biden bring it back?”
Axelrod replied: There is a crisis, but it has to be done right. And I think that's Biden's message and should be. But we urgently need to include real action on how to stem the flow of migrants. Because it's one of the symbols for people that things are out of control. ”
