Former President Donald Trump stormed out of a New York courtroom Friday morning after the judge presiding over the defamation case against him asked for silence while the plaintiffs' lawyers read out a list of complaints.
FOX News shared an overview of the chaos occurring inside Manhattan Civil Federal Court. E. Jean Carroll is seeking more than $12 million in damages related to alleged actions and statements by President Trump that a jury previously determined were defamatory. During closing arguments, Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered both sides to drop their objections and remain completely silent.
…
Shortly after Carroll's attorney, Roberta Kaplan, began her opening statement, President Trump stood up and left.
“The record will reflect that Mr. Trump stood up and walked out of the courtroom,” Judge Kaplan said.
President Donald Trump said on Truth Social: “This is a one-sided trial, where the other side can get away with everything and we can get away with nothing. Very few people have ever seen someone like him.”
Judge Kaplan refused to allow E. Jean Carroll to interview Anderson Cooper on CNN, in which Carroll said, “Rape is sexy,'' and made other statements that found me completely innocent. There are many things to do. Judge Kaplan is denying me my constitutional right to due process to protect myself from this false accusation. This is a one-sided trial, where the other side is allowed everything and we are allowed nothing. He was a very abusive person and very few people have ever seen someone like this before.
