Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-Okla.) told CNN's “The Read” Friday that Gov. Greg Abbott has ignored a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allows federal agents to remove razor wire at the southern border. (R-Texas) said he agreed with him.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Twenty-five Republican governors across the country have signed a joint statement supporting the Texas governor who holds his nose at the Texas Supreme Court.”
“What Governor Abbott is doing, and what you and the other governors who wrote this letter support, defies the United States Supreme Court,” he said. , even if the U.S. Supreme Court rules, it is possible for people to challenge a U.S. Supreme Court ruling they disagree with regarding gun ownership rights because they believe it is in the interest of public safety. Are there any concerns that sex will arise and say what they want to do is unconstitutional?”
“We all agree that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land,” Stitt said. “And if, for example, the Supreme Court does something wrong, we can use the Second Amendment to disarm it. If we tried to ban something that we didn't have a right to possess, I think the Constitution would take precedence over anything someone in Washington, D.C., told us. So Governor Abbott explained it very well and said that in Article 1 of the Constitution, I think they declared an invasion based on the fact that the states have the right to defend themselves. The states created the federal government. The federal government did not create the states.”
