Schumer-aligned super PAC meddling in GOP primary of key Senate race: ‘Terrified of conservative outsider’

A Democratic super PAC aligned with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York is behind a shadowy mass-buy ad boosting potential Republican Senate candidate Rep. Matt Rosendale. Congressman Matt Rosendale is considering a run for Senate against conservative firebrand Tim Sheehy.

In 2022, Democrats spent more than $40 million fielding Republican candidates ahead of the state's primaries in the hopes that the Republican candidate would win and become the more likely candidate to win in the general election, and that their strategy actually changed. Their page features an ad that has been running since Dec. 13 that attempts to paint Navy SEAL Sheehy in a negative light by writing that voters “cannot trust” him, while others The ad links to an article praising Rosendale's pro-life advocacy.

The group is managed by Gambit Strategies LLC, a Washington, D.C.-based digital marketing group that works to “effectively persuade” voters who support the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates across the country. The company received millions of dollars from Biden's re-election campaign last year, in addition to six-figure payments from multiple Democratic campaigns dating back to 2021, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) website.

“Since 2016, no one within the Democratic Party has overseen more spending on digital persuasion, mobilization, and advocacy programs than we have,” Gambit Strategies' homepage says. “That’s why we specialize in running digital her campaigns that effectively and efficiently persuade and mobilize audiences by defining candidates, causes and issues.”

Another shadowy group, the Last Best Place PAC, has already spent millions of dollars on several ads against Sheehy, and his growing candidacy could increase if he becomes the Republican candidate in 2024. This suggests that it could have a negative impact on the Democratic majority.

The Schumer-aligned Senate Majority PAC confirmed to Fox News Digital that they are the group behind the Last Best Place PAC targeting Sheehy.

Last Best Place PAC plans to spend more than $5 million attacking Sheehy in the race to unseat Tester, according to advertising information website AdImpact.

“This is because they know Chuck Schumer is a strong conservative who will win in November, so they are willing to spend millions of dollars to interfere in Montana elections. Mr. Sheehy has received a variety of high-profile endorsements, including support from all of Montana's top leadership, including Sen. Steve Daines, Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.), and Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.). The endorsement brought his campaign to national attention.

The stakes have recently increased after the Cook Report, an “independent and nonpartisan” election forecaster, said last month: shifted the lace From “Lean Democrat” to “Toss Up.”

Rosendale has not officially begun running for the Senate, but he has acknowledged multiple times that he is strongly considering entering the race.
