A New Hampshire woman is in critical condition Monday after falling into a trash can and being loaded into a garbage truck.

A woman fell into a dumpster in Manchester, New Hampshire, and a truck picked it up, unaware that someone was trapped inside, authorities said.
According to police, when the woman was trapped inside the trash can, it was compressing trash four times.

The alert driver looked at the camera inside the truck and noticed the woman desperately calling for help.
Sanitation staff alerted the fire department, who began an emergency rescue operation to remove the woman from the dumpster.
Firefighters entered the garbage truck through the roof and rescued the trapped woman by using a basket attached to the truck’s crane to pull her out of the vehicle, according to a press release.
The unidentified woman was taken to local Elliott Hospital in critical condition after being rescued, authorities said.

During her rescue, screams of agony could be heard as workers painfully began to remove her from the garbage truck.
“All I heard was screaming,” neighbor Amanda Chovits told a local broadcaster. “She was in pain.”

She told firefighters that for some reason it fell into the trash can while she was throwing out trash.
