A brand new super PAC supporting Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson was registered with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday.
Super PAC, Named “We The People 2024”It plans to support Williamson in the 2024 cycle, said Kathleen Scamman, the PAC’s treasurer, who confirmed the group’s plans to The Hill.
The creation of the external group comes as Mr Williamson’s campaign is experiencing financial difficulties. The candidate also raised concerns that he may soon end his bid for the White House after a disappointing showing in the New Hampshire primary, where he trailed President Biden and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.). He also faced speculation.
Last week, Williamson reiterated his intention to remain in the race after a discussion with a volunteer discussing the possibility of dropping out of the race was leaked to the media.
“I’m not saying I’m canceling my campaign. I’m simply sharing relevant questions that candidates will address,” Williamson wrote Thursday night.
Williamson’s campaign ended its third fundraising quarter with just $101,000 in cash on hand.
Mr. Scaman, who is launching a new super PAC, said he has been a longtime reader of Mr. Williamson.
“I’ve read a lot of her books, and she changed my life,” Scaman told The Hill on Tuesday. “And I have spent five years happily in a very emotional and spiritual healing way. I dedicate to her everything I do for this effort. It’s a way to give back to America and heal America at the same time.”
Williamson, who ran for president in 2020, has written 14 books as of 2019, with at least seven on the New York Times bestseller list.
Mr. Scaman said he plans to hire a consultant and run a 15-second ad supporting Mr. Williamson to raise the candidate’s profile.
“My whole thing is to get her name out there,” Scaman said. “Please put her bio. And her platform and the quotes from her books on politics, especially ‘A Politics of Love,’ will show people that she’s been a political activist for 40 years.” . People don’t know about her. ”
The Politics of Love: A Handbook for a New American Revolution was written by Williamson and published in 2019.
“This is what I can do for my country, this is what I can do for her,” Scaman said. “And it came out of love, because love can heal economic injustice and middle-class disparity. I believe in what she says, her whole platform. I believe in that. I firmly believe that.”
