Conservative legal commentator George Conway on Wednesday accused The New York Times of fabricating an article analyzing the political “strategy” of former President Donald Trump, who is running for the White House in 2024.
“Our reporter Jonathan Swan is in court analyzing Donald Trump’s campaign strategy,” the paper wrote in a social media post published Tuesday, adding that Trump is currently in various court appearances and legal battles. He also posted a video of Swann explaining how he uses media attention to benefit his campaign. .
Swann noted that Trump’s legal drama led to a surge in donations to his campaign.
That framework didn’t sit well with Conway, a prominent critic of the former president.
“I hate this picture. Trump is a narcissistic psychopath. We have to stop projecting normalcy and rationality onto him.” Conway wrote about X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “There. No. Strategy.”
Trump, the Republican front-runner, currently faces multiple criminal charges related to his handling of classified documents, efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and hush money payments leading up to the 2016 election. .
A New York jury last week found the former president defamed author E. Jean Carroll and ordered her to pay tens of millions of dollars. Another jury found Trump responsible for sexually assaulting Carroll in the 1990s, a charge Trump continued to deny.
Mr. Conway, who was previously married to Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to President Trump, regularly appears on cable news channels to disparage Mr. Trump and his allies.
