“Once I told him about the lack of leadership and the fact that he wanted to do something impossible with a grant, he continued to act as if we couldn’t do it, question him, and took me off the project and told people that I was, and I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing because I questioned him,” Timpson told Willis.

A former official told Willis that Michael Cuffey, the DA’s top campaign aide, was demoted for trying to stop the misuse of federal funding meant for youth gang prevention efforts.

Cuffee allegedly planned to use some of the $488,594 grant for computers, travel and “stolen goods.”

“I said I couldn’t do it. It’s a very specific grant.[He]fired me,” Timpson continued. “It wasn’t because I didn’t want to do it, it was because I asked him questions that he made it seem like I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing.”

“So I respect that as your assessment,” Willis responded. “It was clear that you and Mr. Cuffy did not get along. I am not saying that your assessment was wrong. I want you to take my word for it.”

Mr. Willis later acknowledged that Mr. Cuffee’s administration had “failed,” but Mr. Timpson was fired about two months after the meeting. She was taken out of the building and flanked by multiple agents.

Timpson filed a complaint in late 2022 with Fulton County seeking damages for lost wages.

Additionally, Willis’ office denied that he was unfairly fired, claiming that Timpson was a “holdover from the previous administration” and did not meet the office’s standards.

Afterwards, Cuffy said: free beacon For Timpson, “this is just a money-making thing.” He also claimed he planned to use the money from another fund for computers and “stolen goods.”

But after the Timpsons were fired, county records show the prosecutor’s office spent $1,245 from the Gang Prevention Fund to purchase items from Dell.

Records also show that in 2020, Willis’ office spent thousands of dollars from a $2 million grant intended for the Atlanta Police Department on computers, travel, hotels and rental cars.

The audio came amid speculation that Willis was romantically involved with Nathan Wade, the prosecutor she hired for more than $600,000 to work on Trump’s case. The two are accused of using tax money to fund vacation destinations including trips to Napa Valley, Florida and cruises to the Caribbean.
