A Delta Airlines pilot has filed a lawsuit alleging he tripped on a moving walkway at Denver International Airport and fell, injuring himself.
Kenneth Go, a pilot from Utah, sued TK Elevator in December, alleging that a missing part at the edge of the walkway caused him to trip, according to the complaint.
A fall in November 2022 left him with leg and shoulder injuries that required physical therapy and forced him to take time off from work. KUSA reported.
video of the incident Footage obtained by the outlet showed Gau walking through a mobile exit with his luggage. When he reached the end, his foot caught on a chipped part of the comb plate and he fell to the ground, the video shows.
A good Samaritan behind him helps him free his leg from the machine as the traveler looks on. In the video, he can be seen getting back on his feet and explaining to airport staff what happened.
Mr. Gau’s lawyer, Brian Aleinikov, told KUSA: “Mr. Gau is truly fortunate that his injuries were not worse.”
The lawsuit is Obtained by law and crimeAccording to , the pilot was approaching the sidewalk on November 4, 2022 when he “suddenly felt severe pain in his leg and collapsed.”
When Gou turned around, he “saw the plate missing and his feet and shoes swallowed by the pavement,” the lawsuit alleges. “Ken’s feet, socks and shoes were severely damaged.”
“Mr. Gau was lucky that he was wearing fairly thick shoes. He was lucky that he did not lose a toe,” Aleinikov said.
Photos showed Ms Gau’s shoes and socks completely torn off after the incident, with a hole in her heel.
Gow argued that the broken sidewalk “posed an unreasonable risk of injury to passengers” and created a dangerous situation.
Three days after the fall, he injured his left ankle, left foot and left shoulder and visited a clinic in his home state of Utah.
The man received physical therapy, but remains in severe pain, according to the complaint.
Doctors ordered Gau to continue wearing a brace and diagnosed him with a torn left Achilles tendon and a contusion in his left foot, according to court documents.
Ms. Gow is seeking damages for medical expenses, as well as physical pain, mental anguish and emotional distress, in an amount to be determined at trial.
“The safety of our passengers and employees is always our top priority, and we are working diligently every day to work with our contractors to address the issue,” Denver International Airport told KUSA in a statement.
