Most fairy tales don’t start with, “There was an Uber driver who quit his full-time job.” But this story has a gal and a guy, and a very happy ending! The kingdom is a settlement in Canal Winchester, Ohio, and the relationship is one of friendship rather than romance. And the biggest and biggest difference is that this account is not a hoax. All great words are true!
Let’s start with a woman named Jenny Teklesion. Jenni was born in Ethiopia and she immigrated to the United States 20 years ago. Jeni, who is 52 years old, has raised her two children with her husband, earned a college degree, has a satisfying career, and is building a fulfilling life. Prime Technologies.
Additionally, Jenny drives for Uber in her spare time. She drives for various reasons. She doesn’t just help people, she sends the money she earns to orphanages in her home country and uses her driving job as a “vehicle” to spread the gospel of Christ. In conversations with her riders, she talks about her family, education, faith, etc.
Back in March 2020, Jenny received a phone call from 88-year-old Paul Webb. Due to his stroke, Paul was unable to drive and needed a ride to get his mobile phone repaired. Jenny offered the ride, and the two quickly formed a connection.
“I felt like he needed help,” Jenni said. Jenni offered to help Paul with all his errands and said, “From now on, if you need a ride, just call me and I’ll take care of it.” Paul did just that!
Uber driver quits to become a caregiver
Soon, the two started seeing each other regularly, visiting his home and enjoying outings together. By the time Paul’s health started to decline in April 2021, Jenny and Paul had become fast friends. It was then that Jenny, Paul’s Uber driver, decided to quit his job at Prime Technologies to become Paul’s full-time carer.
Although she could not take care of her elderly father in Ethiopia, she was able to help Paul. As a result of this, Jenny’s salary was reduced by 50%, but she found her new role much more rewarding than the money she was earning previously. “So many people with wisdom die alone at home, so the challenge is to change his life,” she said.
When Paul feels like it, he talks to Jenny, shares a meal with her, and rides with her. Jenni accompanies Paul to keep him safe. Paul’s children, Keith and Melanie, are very grateful to Jenny. At first, their relationship seemed strange, but over time, he realized that Jenny was “real”.
I am thankful for Jenny and others like her who value relationships over material or financial rewards. For Jenny, It boils down to this. “Sometimes I don’t know what I was made for. I was made to take care of others.”
They lived happily ever after.
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you. Wrap them around your neck and write them on the tablets of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3
