On Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called on President Joe Biden to call for military action against Iran after an Iranian-backed militia killed three U.S. soldiers at a Jordanian outpost. He called on FNC’s “Hannity” to start a new program.
According to the South Carolina Republican, fear of the United States caused by a military attack would deter further Iranian-backed conflict.
“Why didn’t this happen on President Trump’s watch?” Graham said. “Iranians were afraid of Donald Trump. We killed General Soleimani of the Revolutionary Guards. Biden has not yet attacked Iran directly. Iranians are afraid of how many Houthis you killed. They might not care how many Iraqi militiamen you killed. Change their behavior, kill Americans, attack our troops, destroy ships in the Red Sea. The only way to stop trying to bomb Iran is for Joe Biden to start attacking oil infrastructure and killing soldiers inside Iran. I’m not calling for an invasion of Iran. But I calls on President Biden tonight to get to the root of the problem: If we don’t attack Iran’s oil infrastructure, attack their wallets, and strike fear into them, they will continue to kill our soldiers. To the three families who lost loved ones, my heart is breaking because all of this could have been prevented. So Mr. President, attack Iran, attack it now, put it at risk. Strike hard to protect Americans.”
“They will succumb if they fear America,” he added. “They were afraid of Donald Trump. My fellow Americans, our soldiers are over there to make sure ISIS and Al Qaeda don’t come back and attack us here at home. They protect our homeland. We’re here for you. Iran is trying to force us out of the Middle East. The president has a duty to support those who are being harmed. Attack Iran’s oil infrastructure, hit it where it hurts, and they will stop. Stop being afraid of the Ayatollah. He should be afraid of America. We are the deterrent force. In 2021, the Taliban occupied Afghanistan. In 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. In 2023, Hamas attacked Israel. In 2024, they were attacking ships in the Red Sea. Biden. was a disaster in the first three years. Every year, wars start.”
