Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo are among the many stars whose music catalogs have been removed from TikTok After negotiations to renew the license agreement broke down.

The licensing agreement between TikTok and Universal Music Group (UMG), which represents the performers, expired on Wednesday and a new deal could not be reached, the BBC reported. report.

The music company previously reached an agreement with TikTok in February 2021 that allowed users of the app to incorporate clips from its music catalog into videos.
From now on, UMG-owned music that appears in TikTok videos will be muted on the video-sharing site, and users who want to replace deleted tracks will have to choose alternative options from other music labels.
Some artists, such as Ariana Grande and Katy Perry, have had most of their music disappear from their official pages, with the exception of a few songs on other labels.
Another UMG artist, Billie Eilish, also had all but one song removed, the BBC reported.

Unofficial, speeded-up and slowed-down versions of the track are still available.
TikTok is owned by Chinese company ByteDance. Despite having more than 1 billion users, it only accounts for 1 percent of Universal’s total revenue, the label said.
