Oklahoma was hit by a 5.1 magnitude earthquake Friday night near Oklahoma City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
According to a USGS report, the earthquake shook the area at 11:24 p.m. The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 7.9 miles northwest of Prague, Oklahoma, about 92 miles east of Oklahoma City.
Residents in Prague, Oklahoma City, Shawnee, Stillwater and Tecumseh reported feeling the earthquake, KFOR-TV reported.

The quake was shallow, measuring just 2.9 miles deep, according to the USGS. If an earthquake occurs close to the surface, the shaking can be even more intense.
This comes after at least six earthquakes were recorded near separate Oklahoma City suburbs last month, including one of magnitude 4.0 or higher.

In April, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake was one of six that struck Kearny, a town in central Oklahoma about 40 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
