Couple Arrested on Child Abuse Charges

In North Carolina, two men have been arrested in connection with allegations of child sexual abuse. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received tips regarding the possession of materials related to such abuse.

These tips, sourced from the Internet Child Crime Database earlier in March, prompted investigators to suspect that the duo might have illicit materials at their home. Arrest warrants indicated that there have been at least two victims since September, creating significant concern.

Authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of the suspects, identified as Joshua Lee Gilliam, 39, and Ronald Wayne Lynch Jr., 39, on Linda Baucom Lane. During this search, numerous digital devices were confiscated.

The charges include first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, based on the findings from these devices. Additionally, Lynch faces other charges of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, while Gilliam is charged with first-degree statutory sex offense and lewd conduct involving a minor.

The couple made their initial court appearance, where Gilliam was denied bail, while Lynch is being held on a secured bond of $360,000. The investigation by the sheriff’s office is still ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.

Interestingly, investigators found social media accounts linked to Gilliam, where it was noted that he and Lynch had custody of five young boys. It’s not quite clear, however, if any of these children are victims in this case.

A post from their Instagram account raised eyebrows, as it mentioned, “If you would like to exchange photos, please send a message.” It brings an unsettling context to the situation.

In related news, Gilliam was reportedly employed as a phlebotomist at Cape Fear Primary Care in Irwin, highlighting his community ties.

The sheriff’s office emphasized its commitment to collaborating with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to ensure the safety of victims and residents in Harnett County.
