On Friday, on FNC’s “Special Report,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) expressed doubts about the effectiveness of the U.S. strikes against Iraq and Syria earlier in the day.
Cotton told host Bret Baier that he had “serious concerns” about the strategic success of the mission.
“First of all, I would like to pay tribute to the brave troops who carried out these attacks,” he said. “There is little doubt that the pilots and crew tonight were a tactical success. Whether this will amount to a strategic success is an open question, and whether it will stop attacks on Americans or international shipping. I think we can set the standard. I’m very concerned about whether it will be strategically successful for a variety of reasons. Let me give you a quick example. So I think we didn’t kill a lot of key Iranian leaders in those areas.”
“Joe Biden also shows no signs of reversing Obama-Biden’s failed Iran policy of 11 years, which in fact sought to appease and broker grant concessions to the Ayatollahs. ‘ added Mr Cotton. “As far as I know, even after the October 7th atrocity, he’s still giving Iran billions of dollars in sanctions relief. So tonight and in the coming days, this will be a tactical success. I have no doubts, but I am very concerned about whether this will be a strategic success. We will soon find out whether the attacks have stopped.”
