Presidential candidate Nikki Haley made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live’s cold opening, parodying her main Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, in the opening sketch.
Haley pretended to be a voter during a CNN town hall and asked Trump actor James Austin Johnson, “Why aren’t you debating Nikki Haley?”
“Oh my god, that’s the woman who was in charge of security on January 6th,” Trump yelled, to which Johnson yelled, “That’s Nancy Pelosi.”
Haley then quipped, “Okay, Donald, maybe you need a mental competency test.”
“I had no trouble taking it and passed the test,” Johnson said. “I’m 100 percent mentally strong. And I’m a man, so I’m capable. That’s why women shouldn’t be running the economy. In fact, one woman recently asked me for $83.3 million.” he added, referring to the E. Jean Carroll libel judgment handed down against Trump last week.
“So you spent 50 million on your own legal defense, do you need to borrow money?” she said.
Mr Johnson then went on a tirade, ending with the line: “I see dead people,” to which Ms Haley replied: “That’s what voters will say when they see you and Joe on their ballots.” Ta.
At one point on “Republican Town Hall,” Haley also fielded questions from the episode’s host, Emmy Award-winning actress Ayo Edebiri.
“Just curious, what do you think was the main cause of the Civil War? And do you think it starts with ‘S’ and ends with ‘Lavery’?” Edebiri pressed.
“Yeah, maybe I should have said that first,” Hailey replied, immediately delivering the show’s iconic punch. “And we’re broadcasting live from New York, Saturday night!”
Haley has come under fire for a debacle at City Hall in December in which she argued that the roots of the nation’s deadliest wars were over restrictions imposed by governments on their people, but the antebellum South He did not mention the “special system” of her reply.
In response to the backlash, Haley insisted that slavery was the “natural” cause, adding that she thought it was a “natural” cause.
