Tucker Carlson Announces New Political Party
Tucker Carlson, a conservative podcaster, has declared his intention to form a new political party, distancing himself from President Trump and the Republican Party in light of the ongoing Iran war.
“I’m going to help set up a third party,” Carlson stated during an interview with Columbia Journalism Review published on Wednesday. He emphasized the necessity of a sincere effort to explore what truly benefits the nation.
The former Fox News host argued that both Democrats and Republicans are “firmly united” on two key issues he believes concern many Americans: “war and finance.”
“That’s not democracy,” he remarked, expressing his belief that the current political landscape resembles a single-party system masquerading as a democracy. “We need to break it. There will be a third party. I will do everything in my power to make that happen.”
Last month, on the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast, Carlson claimed there was “no chance” he would support Republican initiatives regarding the Iran conflict.
Once a lifelong Republican, he accused the Trump administration of betraying American interests by engaging in the war with Iran, stating it was largely due to “pressure” from Israel.
“At this point… how can I or any American voter support a party that is not loyal to the United States and puts foreign interests above the interests of its own people?” he questioned. “I can’t vote for someone like that.” He suggested that his new political party would prioritize the “welfare” of American citizens above everything.
“If you’re making $60,000 a year, you’re being degraded. Your life expectancy is going down, and the promise of a good life for your children seems to be fading away. Nobody seems to care,” he told CJR. “Officially, I don’t care about Hamas.”
He stressed, “The U.S. government should prioritize the welfare of its citizens.”
However, Carlson also hinted that his supporters should not anticipate seeing him on a ballot anytime soon. He humorously remarked that he has no desire to run for office, jokingly saying he might campaign on a “pro-patriarchy ticket” just to deter potential new fans.
Since their fallout, Trump has referred to Carlson as a “head of a job” and “hand-waving idiot.” In a post on Truth Social in April, he commented on Carlson’s changes since being fired from Fox, suggesting perhaps he should “see a good psychiatrist!”
