Father Of Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes Detained On DWI Charges In Texas

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes Jr., has been arrested for the third time in Texas on suspicion of drunk driving.

according to prison recordsOn Saturday, Mahomes Sr., 53, was taken to the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, to face charges of driving under the influence (DWI).

He was taken into custody in Texas on Saturday night and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated for the third time or more, according to online records.

Mahomes Sr., a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player, is facing a DWI charge with bail set at $10,000.

In 2018, Mahomes Sr. was arrested for a second time for driving under the influence (DUI). After entering his guilty plea, he was sentenced to 40 days in jail. In 2014, he was charged with having an open container of alcohol in his car, but ultimately only had to pay a fine.

Previously, Mahomes Sr. had been charged in a 1994 single-vehicle crash, according to sources. bleacher report.

Additionally, according to reports, Mahomes Sr. was arrested and charged with public intoxication in 2016 during a football game between Texas Christian University (TCU) and his son’s alma mater, Texas Tech University.

The arrest came just a week before his son Mahomes Jr. was scheduled to lead the Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl III. The Chiefs have a chance to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004.

From 1992 to 2003, Mahomes Sr. pitched in MLB. He was a player for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox.
