Influx of illegal Chinese migrants threatens US territory, island must show ‘strength of the nation’

Exclusive: Guam Rep. James Moylan warns that the territory is being “invaded” by an influx of Chinese illegal immigrants and is asking for help from the Biden administration to combat the problem and protect the island, Fox News told Digital. This is critical to US deterrence efforts against the Chinese Communist Party.

Mr. Moylan, a Republican, is the representative from Guam. He was elected as a non-voting member of the island territory in 2022. Delegates to the United States Congress.

Moylan told Fox News Digital that over the years, Guam has been “invaded by hordes of illegal Chinese immigrants who have boarded our shores.”

“The majority of illegal Chinese aliens entering the country are often from the Northern Mariana Islands,” he said.

Mr Moylan warned that the Chinese were trying to “invade the environment”.

“This is a huge threat,” he said, pointing to the possibility that Chinese nationals on the island are gathering intelligence on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party in Guam and around U.S. military bases on the island.

Moylan pointed to news reports from just last month that revealed the ship’s captain and three others were charged with illegally transporting Chinese nationals to Guam. Also last month, the U.S. Coast Guard rescued six Chinese nationals from a sinking ship just north of the island. Moylan also pointed to reports that more than 20 Chinese nationals came to Guam by boat in June.

However, Moylan told Fox News Digital that the actions Guam’s local government can take are limited because it is a “federal matter,” but the territory is not receiving the support it needs from the Biden administration.

Last month, Moylan attempted to contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement regarding “concerns regarding Chinese immigrants entering Guam illegally.”

“Given rising Chinese tensions within the Indo-Pacific region, where Guam’s proximity plays a critical role, it is concerning that Chinese nationals are entering the island through such a precarious route. ” Moylan warned in a letter to ICE last month. “While it’s true that some people are here to find a way to earn money in private work, there’s still a risk that bad actors may come in with other motives.”

Moylan told Fox News Digital that he has not yet received a response from ICE.

ICE did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Moylan also told Fox News Digital that Guam has been hacked with malware on the island from the Chinese Communist Party.

FBI Director Christopher Wray On Wednesday, he warned lawmakers at the Capitol that Chinese hackers were preparing to “wreak havoc and cause real-world damage to American people and communities.”

Moylan said the Chinese Communist Party “attempted to use our military services to attack Guam” and “hacked our communications.”

“They’re continually trying to get in,” Moylan told FOX News Digital.

But Moylan said that because Guam is “the westernmost territory of the United States,” there is “significant investment” in the island and “protection of Guam and defense of the nation.”

“So when these attacks continue, it’s very frightening,” he said. “And I knew what I knew: We’re doing everything we can to protect, but in order to protect the American people on Guam and protect our military, we need to bring the attention back to Guam.” We need to collect them.”

He added that Wray’s warning to Congress about Chinese Communist Party hacking was “very important.” Because “in fact, it is already happening on our territory.”

Guam is the westernmost U.S. territory in the Indo-Pacific region and is home to approximately 170,000 U.S. citizens. The Department of Defense owns about a quarter of Guam’s land and hosts a military of nearly 7,000 active-duty military personnel on the island.

Guam is home to Naval Base Guam, the Navy’s only submarine base in the Western Pacific, and Anderson Air Force Base, a large air base that can host U.S. strategic bombers and fighters.

But Guam is much closer to Beijing than Hawaii and is within range of nuclear-capable missiles owned by the People’s Republic of China and North Korea.

U.S. officials have warned that China has spent decades developing short- and intermediate-range missiles capable of targeting Guam.

Moylan warned of Chinese missiles such as the DF-26 IRBM, which has an estimated range of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometers. At this range, Guam would also be within range. Moylan said the missile is called the “Guam Killer.”

“This is where America’s day begins. We’re on the other side of the International Date Line. The sun rises first on Guam,” Moylan told FOX News Digital. “If something happens, China will be watching us.”

“We have to protect the island, and we can do that. Congress has done a really great job in that,” Moylan said.

Moylan said he feels bipartisan support in Congress, pointing to the bipartisan Congressional delegation from the House Armed Services Committee that visited Guam.

Moylan said the U.S. and Guam “are paying close attention to the island to ensure it is strong enough to deter the Chinese Communist Party and to secure interests with fellow countries involved, including Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan.” The focus is on paying.” ”

Moylan also touted the National Defense Authorization Act of 2024, which authorizes funding to support Guam’s military infrastructure and missile defense system.

“We know what the aggressor has, we know what the Chinese Communist Party has, and we need to defeat it,” Moylan said. “If Guam is able to defeat an attack on the island, which we hope won’t happen because we’re focused on deterrence, but if it does happen, we will be able to defeat the attack before it reaches Guam. You can destroy elements.”

Moylan emphasized that Guam’s location will demonstrate to China “the strength of the nation.”

“That’s why it’s so important for us to achieve this accumulation,” he said.

Moylan told FOX News Digital that Guam is strategically “very important” to U.S. national security.

“We need to focus on protecting our people and protecting our military,” Moylan said. “We need to demonstrate our nation’s strength and maintain vital operating bases and peace within the Indo-Pacific.”
