Tribal Chairman Frank Starr from the Pine Ridge Reservation announced a ban on social media.
“For the safety of the Oyate Nation, effective immediately, you are expelled from the Oglala Sioux Nation’s homeland,” Star Comes Out said in a statement Friday to Noem (R-S.D.). . “Oyate” is a word that represents a person or a nation.
In a four-page letter, Star Comes Out accused Noem of using the issue to help former President Donald Trump re-elect and improve his chances of being selected as his running mate.
He said people at the border “don’t have to be kept in cages, separated from their children, and worst of all, chopped up with South Dakota’s razor wire like they were during the Trump administration.” .

“My focus remains on working together to solve these problems,” she said. “Earlier this week, I told a bipartisan group of Native American senators, ‘I’m not the one with the stiff arm here. You can’t build relationships if you don’t spend time together,'” Noem said. said. “I am ready to work with any of the state’s Native American tribes to build these relationships.”
