A group of Black voters told MSNBC last week why they are considering voting for Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Reporting from Charleston, South Carolina, MSNBC correspondent Trymaine Lee speaks with black voters at a barbershop and discusses President Trump’s “attraction” to President Joe Biden, especially to black men. did.
They explained:
- Thomas Murray: “Despite all the craziness that Donald Trump has in his head, reading some of the things he says about business, I think we can kind of agree about business, because I think… “Because I’m trying to grow my own business. When it comes to Biden, I’ve never seen him care about business that much. And my concern is that he’s trying to grow his own business. It’s about being able to build generational wealth and having something for my kids to look at and take on when I’m not here. ”
- Kinard Givens: “A lot of my friends have only voted once, and Trump and Biden are like all we know. And they’re like, ‘Well, we’re done with Biden. We’re done with Trump. It didn’t matter.” And all I hear over and over again is, “In the Trump administration, there was money.” ”
- Juston Brown: “A lot of people look up to this guy and want to be like him. They want to enjoy the perks he has. He always seems to be able to get around the rules.”
- Anthony Freeman: “Donald Trump has a reputation for being rich.”
Lee told MSNBC host Katie Toole that during a trip to South Carolina, he discovered that black men fall into “three buckets” when it comes to the upcoming election.
“If you are thinking of voting now, joe biden “I would do it again, even if they weren’t excited,” he explained, “to talk to people who are considering voting for Donald Trump and not fully participate, but in some way.” These are people who intend to opt out of the voting process.”
Mr. Trump will not win a majority of votes from black voters in 2024, as no Republican has ever done so.
But while black voters believe they are a monolith who will be loyal to the Democratic Party no matter what, it is clear that black Americans are tired of a Democratic Party that never delivers on its promises.don’t look further USA Today/Suffolk University Polllast month found that Biden received support from just 63% of black voters.
This is a significant drop from the 92% that Biden won four years ago.
