Parents Sue Michigan School District, Alleging Employees Transitioned Their Child without Consent

Parents in Michigan have filed a lawsuit against a public school district, alleging that school district officials secretly initiated their daughter’s transition without her consent.

according to CBN Newsparents Dan and Jennifer Meade sued the Rockford Public School District in Michigan.

“While we are working closely with schools to address the issue, [our daughter’s] Despite having academic needs related to her autism, the school actively deceived and concealed from us the fact that they were trying to transition our daughter from a girl to a boy by using a boy’s name and pronouns. “We realized that we were,” Dan Mead said.electrical outlet recent interviews.

The couple said they first became aware of the social transition allegations after school officials “inadvertently forgot to change the man’s name and one of his pronouns.”

Jennifer said she thought the other child’s name was incorrect, but the school did not respond to emails asking about the situation.

“We dug a little deeper and started thinking, ‘Well, why aren’t you responding to emails with important information like this?'” she said. “So when I found out what was actually going on, obviously I was just shocked.” [and] Sense of distrust. ”

Additionally, Dunn and his wife discovered a “very explicit” book in their daughter’s book bag that allegedly came from a school counselor. He noted that the school included a story about “a gay boy trying to force a relationship on a young boy.”

“We met with the principal of the school,” Dan explained. “He said to us, ‘Look, you have to understand that this is school policy. We are obligated to do this. The wishes of the children are the same as the parents. has exceeded our wishes and there is not much we can do in that regard.”

Kate Anderson, an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom, who is representing the Meese family, said the policy of school districts not informing parents of students’ pronoun changes is “very pervasive” in some parts of the country. ” he said.

“There are situations, like in the case of the Meads, where they’re actively hiding that information from their parents,” Anderson said. “In fact, they had erased the male name and male pronouns on the documents and replaced them with their daughter’s real name and female pronouns.”

She argued that this violated the U.S. Constitution because parents “have the right to direct the care and education of their children.”

“Schools should never hide information from parents,” she says.

Despite what Ms Meads’ daughter has been through, the couple said her daughter is “no longer confused” after dealing with a period of anxiety and depression given the challenges she was facing at school. , said he was feeling better.

“She’s thriving, her grades are improving, and she’s happy,” Jennifer said. “She’s like a different child now. It’s great that we got her back.”

“How many other parents have done this before us?” Dan asked. [H]How many people will come after us? And what if we had to look at other fathers and mothers who had experiences like this and say, “Oh, the same thing happened to us, but we didn’t do anything about it.” I don’t know if I can handle it. that. “

Dunn added that he and his wife want to “make this right” and prevent other parents and children from going through the same thing.

“Never lie to your parents about anything,” he said. “We can’t withhold information or change documents. We can’t do anything like that.”

Anderson said the lawsuit was filed before Christmas and is still in the early stages of litigation. The Meads family Asked The court deemed the incident a violation of the family’s First and Fourteenth Amendment rights and is seeking damages for the cost of removing her daughter from school.

Listen: Is Alistair Begg wrong about Christians attending same-sex weddings?

Alistair Begg has come under considerable criticism in recent weeks after saying he advised a woman to attend her grandson’s wedding with a transgender person. Ms Begg gave her advice, warning that it was clear that women had not changed their minds about marriage and gender, but that reaching the hearts of those seeking the gospel was “at risk”. she also said. Amidst her criticism, Ms Begg has stood by her own comments. As a result, American Family Radio pulled his “True for Life” show from 1,800 radio stations. In this episode, we discuss what exactly Begg said and whether we agree with him. It also explores broader issues about the church’s relationship with the LGBTQ+ community. What does it look like to walk in grace and truth if we disagree with the prevailing culture about such basic realities?
