Country music legend Toby Keith has sadly passed away, 18 months after revealing he had stomach cancer. He was 62 years old at the time of his death.

The singer-songwriter who “should have been a cowboy” died peacefully on Monday, according to the country singer’s website. “He fought with grace and courage,” her statement said.
“His story is a distinctly American one, of a former rough-and-tumble oil worker who carved out a niche for himself in country music with a strong voice and an unwavering will to succeed. “He wrote songs and later founded his own record label when he felt underserved in Nashville,” the statement said. “He enjoyed being an outsider and doing things his own way. A proud patriot, he didn’t mind offending people for his clear beliefs. For 30 years, he reflected the rebellious strength of country music audiences. His memory will continue to hold high.”
The legendary singer announced in June 2022 that he had cancer, and last September he opened up about his “roller coaster” experience undergoing treatment.
“Some days are good, some ups and some downs, some ups and downs. It’s always zero to 60, 60 to zero, but today I feel good,” Keith said. Eh!news before accepting the Country Icon Award at the People’s Choice Country Awards.
Keith was also known for his patriotism in post-9/11 songs such as “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” and famous songs such as “I Love This Bar” and “Red Solo Cup.”
Keith battled cancer and performed over three nights in Las Vegas in December. Although he was visibly thinner, he still had many of his 32 No. 1 hits and 42 Top 10 hits.
The legendary country singer began his singing career after working in the oil fields of Oklahoma in his youth and then playing semi-pro football.
“I write about life, I sing about life, and I don’t overanalyze things,” Keith said. Associated Press Debuted in 2001 following the success of his song “I’m Just Talking About Tonight”.
Keith was known as a big supporter of the military and spent a notable time in the USO.
He participated in 11 USO tours, visiting and playing with troops serving overseas. The country legend also helped raise millions of dollars for charities throughout his career, including building a home in Oklahoma City for children with cancer and their families.
