A crew member for Marvel’s upcoming TV series Wonder Man has died in an accident during filming.
The unidentified worker, a rigger at CBS Radford Studios, died Tuesday morning after falling from the rafters. Although the accident did not occur during filming, Rigger was working on the set of the Marvel television series, which resumed production in January after several delays due to strikes.
A Marvel spokesperson confirmed the death, adding a statement from the studio: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. Our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident. It is located in.”
The 10-episode series, created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, follows Marvel’s eponymous character, the heir of a wealthy businessman, after his company loses to Stark Industries, played by Tony Stark. It depicts the story of working under Jimo. Endowed with supernatural powers such as extreme strength, Wonder Man begins as a rival to the Avengers and eventually teams up with them.
The series, developed for the streaming service Disney+, stars Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Gross and Ed Harris as Watchmen’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Filming began in April 2023, but production was halted due to a double strike between the scriptwriters and actors.
