The incident follows a major scandal at UNRWA over the alleged participation of several Gaza employees in the October 7 attack on Israel. In the wake of the incident, countries including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and Austria announced that they would temporarily cut funding to the organization pending investigations into the allegations.
