The government this week announced a new NHS dental recovery plan after a survey revealed in December that four in five dentists in England were not accepting new NHS patients.
The number of NHS dentists in England is at its lowest level in 10 years, according to figures released by the British Dental Association last year. Some healthcare providers are reported to have removed patients from NHS lists who did not offer treatment during the pandemic.
