White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed discomfort Tuesday when asked about President Joe Biden’s cognitive health.
Biden raised eyebrows on Sunday when he told a crowd in Las Vegas that he spoke to Francois Mitterrand after he was elected president. However, that is impossible because former French President Mitterrand passed away nearly 30 years ago in 1996.White House later edited the official record Biden’s speech indicated that the president intended to say “Macron,” referring to current French President Emmanuel Macron.
At a press conference, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked Jean-Pierre how the incident fits with the theory that Biden is mentally healthy.
“How does President Biden plan to persuade three-quarters of voters Who’s worried about his physical and mental health, even though he recently told a story about speaking in Las Vegas with the French president who died in 1996? asked Doocy.
This question clearly angered Jean-Pierre.
“I’m not even going to go down that rabbit hole with you, sir,” she replied, trying to move on to another reporter.
“Why? What’s a rabbit hole?” Doocy followed. “He said he had spoken to Mitterrand.”
Jean-Pierre answered incoherently, “You saw the president in Las Vegas, you saw him in California. You saw him in South Carolina, you saw him in Michigan. I’ll leave it there.”
With that, Jean-Pierre cut Doucy off and did not allow any further questions.
Perhaps Jean-Pierre’s fuse was short on Tuesday because of a question Doocy asked right before he confronted her about the Mitterrand affair. During the question, Doocy rejected the Biden administration’s claim that Congressional Republicans are to blame for the border crisis.
“You guys often talk about how if Congress had passed an immigration bill on day one, the border issue wouldn’t have been such a big deal. Who was in charge of Congress on day one?” he asked.
If Jean-Pierre had answered the questions honestly, he would have been forced to admit that Democrats controlled Congress for the first two years of Biden’s presidency. Unfortunately, she did not choose that path and continued to criticize the Republican Party.
“So the Democrats who were in charge for the first two years weren’t responsible for anything?” Stupid follow-up.
“I’m not saying Democrats couldn’t control the first two years. … What I’m saying is that House Republicans got in the way — they got in the way. “Yes!” Jean-Pierre replied.
