University launches more than 200 online courses in effort to increase enrollment

The University of Wisconsin has launched a new website listing all online courses available at the system’s 13 campuses, system officials announced Wednesday.

The website online.wisconsin.edu features more than 200 online programs, including 10 associate’s programs, 99 bachelor’s programs, and 95 master’s programs. This site contains links to campuses offering courses.

This site was launched on February 1st. System President Jay Rothman said in a statement Tuesday that the site will help UW market its online programs to prospective students around the world.

“(The site) is important because in order to win the war for talent, you meet students where they are,” Rothman said in a phone interview. “This allows for another access point.”

Years of declining enrollment and a lack of state aid have left the University of California’s 10 campuses facing a combined $18 million deficit through summer. Multiple schools in Wisconsin closed two-year satellite campuses over the past year as a cost-cutting measure.
