The Democratic governor of Massachusetts just nominated his ex-girlfriend to fill a vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Maura Healey, 52, announced the nomination of Gabriel Wolohogian, 63, an associate judge on the state Court of Appeals, to replace her.
“There is no one better qualified and better prepared to serve on the Supreme Judicial Court than Judge Wolohogian,” Healey said. statement. Hines said Wolohogian is “uniquely qualified” to serve on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and has “the ability to embrace the debates that inevitably arise and elicit consensus” among the court’s seven justices.
