A wandering kangaroo was found running amok at an apartment complex in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday morning and was captured by police.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said: Facebook post Officers received a 911 call from someone who said they saw a kangaroo jumping around an apartment building in north Tampa.
In audio released by police, a dispatcher can be heard asking, “Do you want 911 to call police, fire, or medical?”
“Maybe the police. There’s a kangaroo in my apartment,” a woman could be heard saying on the phone.
Footage shows the elusive kangaroo hopping around the pool deck of an apartment complex.
“We actually saw a kangaroo,” the officer can be heard saying in disbelief. “It looks like a big kangaroo.”
“We trapped him in the pool gate area,” the officer added.
The footage shows the agency searching the area for the lithe animal before finally returning it to captivity.
Police said the kangaroo had previously escaped from its owner’s home.
It was later returned after the Sheriff’s Office Agriculture Division verified proper registration of ownership.
No injuries to kangaroos or people were reported.
