Emma Heming Willis shares her experience taking on the role of caregiver for her husband Bruce Willis.
Hemming Willis married the Die Hard actor in 2009.
In March 2022, Willis was diagnosed with aphasia that progressed to frontotemporal dementia and retired from acting.
Now, Hemming Willis is offering resources to people in similar situations to her in a new book scheduled for release in 2025.

“For me, knowledge is power, and building a supportive community around me was essential,” Hemming Willis said in a statement. “It has given me back stability and some control, a control that was completely shattered when the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia first came to our family.”
The book, which is currently untitled, is based on Hemming Willis’ personal experiences, expert advice and interviews.

“Dementia not only affects loved ones, but if left unchecked, it can shake the foundations of entire families and themselves,” Hemming Willis said in a statement.

“Identifying the right resources to educate and enlighten myself is powerful and continues to move me forward in the most positive way so that I can be the best mother, wife, daughter, friend, and care partner I can be.” It’s given me the space, and then I can share it with the people who are here.”
Hemming Willis’ book will be published through Maria Shriver’s The Open Field, which was launched in 2021 with partner Penguin Life.
“I am so proud of the way she used her voice to help others,” Shriver said in a statement. She said: “Caregivers are the unsung heroes of our society. They need guidance, support and knowledge, along with a community and a roadmap.”

Willis is the father of five daughters: Rumer Glenn Willis, Scout LaRue Willis, Talulah Belle Willis, Mabel Ray Willis, and Evelyn Penn Willis.
