On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” new york times Columnist David Brooks says he thinks President Joe Biden is “smart enough” and has “good” judgment to run his administration, but that his own staff has clearly criticized him because of his age. He said they were acting “as if we had a big problem” and that they were refusing. A “brief” interview before the Super Bowl.
“I think the special prosecutor’s job is to think carefully about how jurors think, so I think he talked about age,” Brooks said. And the argument was that the jury would not convict this man because they thought he was a well-meaning person with memory loss. Nevertheless, prosecutors are also not allowed to insult people who have not been charged. Because the people they insult don’t have time to fight back in court. So this is [prosecutorial] It didn’t meet the standards and I think he was very flirtatious and over the line in that regard. ”
He continued, “As for the age issue, I think it’s a completely legitimate issue. Listen, I’ve been interviewing Joe Biden for 30 years. He’s not as fast as he used to be. He used to be 94. I think he was a pitcher who was throwing pitches, and now he’s throwing 87 pitches. So, age is a factor, but you have to think, if he’s re-elected, he’ll be 86 years old. That’s totally It’s a legitimate problem. His staff seems to think it’s a legitimate problem because he’s acting like he has a big problem. I’m surprised you declined the interview. Your man is in the background. I was surprised that the staff was wary of saying something stupid when they had a chance to get a quick interview to talk to tens of millions of people. Are you refusing just because you are?”
Mr. Brooks concluded: “My personal opinion, based on my own direct contacts and interviews, is that his judgment — although his memory may fail from time to time, his judgment is sound, and that he I mean, he’s running the White House. He’s in charge of that administration. He’s totally smart enough to do it. But can he do it in five years? I think it’s a legitimate question to think about.”
