A former professional wrestler shot and killed his wife in Washington after an hours-long standoff with police, according to multiple reports.
At approximately 9:52 a.m. Thursday, tactical teams responded to a shooting incident in the Lentz neighborhood of Portland, Washington.
Officers determined the shooter was inside the residence and requested assistance from the Special Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. The suspect was reportedly uncooperative with law enforcement officers, and police advised nearby residents to shelter in place, according to a news release from the newspaper. portland police bureau.
It took about two hours for officers to take the suspect, William Albert Haynes Jr., 70, into custody.
Police officers found the body of an elderly woman inside the house.
Authorities identified the shooting victim as Haynes’ second wife, Janet Becraft, 85.
The medical examiner ruled Becraft’s cause of death a homicide by gunshot wound.
After being taken into police custody, Haynes was taken to a local hospital for treatment of “medical conditions unrelated to homicide or contact with law enforcement.” Portland police said he would be released from the hospital “in the next few days,” but then he would be in jail and formally charged.

Haynes began his career as a professional wrestler in 1982, going by the name Billy Jack Haynes.
Haynes joined the WWF in 1986 and competed against wrestling stars such as Ric Flair and Randy “Macho Man” Savage in the 1980s.
