Before the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, Team Ruff will face Team Fluff in the 2024 Puppy Bowl.
The Puppy Bowl is back for its 20th year, featuring a record-breaking 131 dogs from 73 shelters across the country battling it out for the Lombardi Trophy.
This year, six puppies with special needs will also be competing.
The three-hour match will be broadcast hours before the Super Bowl and is intended to raise awareness about pet adoption from shelters and the rescue of abandoned animals.
In a statement, Warner Bros. Discovery said: “The Puppies have taken over the production of the show, including operating cameras and lighting, directing instructions from the control room, and stage management on the studio floor.”
Puppy Bowl XX will be directed by referee Dan Schachner, who has judged the contest for the past 13 years. Last year, Schachner told the Post that the recruiting rate for bowl games is 100% every year.
And while the 131 dogs that will take to the field from 73 shelters across the country will likely already have been adopted by the time the show airs on Sunday, the games are always pre-recorded in the fall, so there’s still a lot to be said for them. 14 gorgeous puppies and kittens will be up for adoption. Adopted during broadcast.
Team Fluff won last year’s Puppy Bowl, and their Pomeranian, Pickle, was named the game’s MVP.
The rules are simple. Puppies must drag the chew toy to the end zone to score points.
So without further ado, here’s how to watch Puppy Bowl XX.
