German Dies After Spitting Up ‘Litres of Blood’ on Flight From Bangkok

This week, a flight from Thailand descended into a scene of “absolute horror”, with a 63-year-old German man dying after he started vomiting “several liters of blood” during the flight, a witness said.

A German man tragically died on a Lufthansa Airbus flight from Bangkok to Munich on Thursday after he showed signs of being unwell before takeoff and died mid-flight. busy German and Swiss newspapers brickFellow travelers Karin and Martin Misfelder, nursing specialists at Zurich University Hospital, said the 63-year-old man was “in a cold sweat” and was “breathing too fast” before takeoff. he said.

After being examined by a doctor and the captain onboard the plane, he was determined to be healthy enough to travel, as his Filipino wife explained that she had to run to board the plane and was out of breath.

“Then they gave him some chamomile tea, but he was already vomiting blood into the bag that his wife had given him,” Martin Misfelder said.

During the flight, the man’s condition deteriorated dramatically and blood began gushing from his mouth and nose. Missfelder said the man had lost “several liters of blood” and the walls were covered in blood. “It was absolute horror. Everyone was screaming.”

Nursing expert Karin Misfelder said flight attendants tried to help the man, adding that resuscitation attempts were “unfortunately a bit amateurish” and lasted about 30 minutes, adding: “The plane was silent. ” he added.

Their attempt ultimately failed and the man died. The man was taken to the plane’s galley area by the crew, and the captain announced to the passengers that the man had died and that they were to return to Bangkok to remove his body.

“The man looked very bad and I couldn’t understand why the captain took off. I should have intervened, but I didn’t want to get involved because I could see the doctor taking care of him. “I did,” Karin said.

Martin said the chaos continued when he returned to the Thai capital, saying: “No one cared about us. We waited for two hours. There was no care team there, no one. We were all there. I had to go to the counter, where I received a voucher for 10 francs.” He added that the deceased man’s wife was left alone as everyone was forced to go through customs again.

“The fact that Lufthansa is doing nothing about this, that no one cares about the approximately 30 traumatized passengers around them, is unacceptable,” he said. called on the airline to apologize to all passengers, especially the wife of the deceased man. .

Lufthansa confirmed the death but said it was “not providing further details” as per its policy.
